Earl’s Duke Joint

Joinery at Flexem has roots in a very  fine tradition of craftsmanship. We were recently approached to complete the joinery items at a new bar in Newtown called Earl Dukes Joint which is a  flashback to prohibition era New Orleans. The owners approached us with a brief of sketches and pictures and we customised the design to their needs. The beautiful dark bar has been described as “11.5 metres of elbow propping bliss” by Timeout Sydney and is well worth a visit for the “best Pina Colada this side of Puerto Rico”.

Aldo Vilarubi is master craftsman and his team have a niche corner in the workshop dedicated to producing classic colonial recreations of master cabinetmakers and joiners including Joseph Sly, David Lenehan and James Whitesides (they can build cabinets without the use of a single nail). They continue to produce their famous line of Cedar creations under the Colonial Living seal together with commercial and retail joinery for the clients of Flexem.
